Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel's original lineup, besides including Ed and former Arc-Angel guitarist Carl Logan (now Karl Logan of Manowar), was meant to include former Arc Angel bassist Russ Kile, however, Russ decided to take time away from music, and Ed recruited Indianapolis native Gene Kingery to play bass. Texan keyboardist Geoffrey Cuellar completed the lineup.

The band played to a packed house their first show in November 1991, and continued to draw well through the beginning of 1992. The band began playing their original music as a complete set in the beginning of the night, and they released a cassette of 8 tracks. The song list on the cassette had some spelling mistakes, and some of the titles had been changed, but the recordings were the 7 FreeFall demos that Ed wrote, while the 8th track was the first Fallen Angel composition, Not That Easy, written by Ed, and recorded by Fallen Angel in Ed's 8 track studio (which he named TempleVision Studios).

early Fallen Angel - Gene Kingery, Carl Logan, Ed Collins and Geoff Cuellar
  • Need Some Music (Can You Feel The Music)
  • Hang In There (Hang Tough)
  • Not That Easy
  • B.O.D.
  • Too Late
  • It's Alright
  • Call Me
  • Can't Win (Lovin' You)
Articles about the band appeared in some teen magazines in 1992 (if you have copies of these let me know...) Cuellar left Fallen Angel suddenly, and for several months Fallen Angel performed as a three-piece with a sequencer that Ed controlled (and he also had played the keyboard parts for the sequencer). In 1992 Jay Miller joined the band as keyboardist.

Although Fallen Angel only lasted a little over a year, it was a rather productive year for Ed as a songwriter. Fallen Angel recorded several tracks in Titan Studios, with Ed at the helm, including a Carl Logan penned former Arc Angel song "Bad Boy Blues," and my personal favorite, Collins' "Broken Hearts" (If anyone has either of those songs, please get in touch with me!!!!!! In fact, if you have any Ed Collins stuff (live shows, photos, whatever) let me know).

These are the original songs that I know Fallen Angel recorded, but have never been released. There may be more:

  • Broken Hearts
  • Bad Boy Blues (written by Carl Logan)
  • Doesn't Get Better
  • Can't Wait No More
  • Hanging Out On The Corner
  • Soul Survivor
  • I'm Hot
  • You And Me
  • Streets On Fire (split vocals with Carl Logan)
  • A Thousand Times Before
  • Not That Easy (with acoustic guitar, alternate version)
  • Total Lack Of Confusion
  • Barely Treading Water (written by Carl Logan)
  • Rescue Me
Ed disbanded Fallen Angel in 1992 and returned to Indiana, where he began his association with several projects, including Pod.
